Android is finally joining the bandwagon as they recently announced their plans of creating their very own line of wearables called Android Wear. The year 2013 has become very promising for all wearable techs like smart watches and fitness trackers. It is not surprising how many manufacturers are jumping in now on the craze, which is very evident in the 2014 CES show.
According to their statement released in the Official Google Blog (http://googleblog.blogspot.com), the Android Wear project will start off with a piece already familiar with most of us—smart watches.
Android smart watches are intelligently designed not merely to tell time but also show users useful information and suggestions that they needed on the spot. The variety in Android applications means you will receive the latest updates from your social apps, chats, notifications from shopping, news and photography apps, etc.
Another amazing feature of Android Wears is that you can get straight answers for spoken questions. Example, how much calories are in an avocado? Or what is the last score in the NBA play-offs? When does your flight leave? And so on. Just remember to say ‘Ok Google’ after the question. This triggers the device to do its thing. You can also use voice command to activate your music player or control your Television and other gadgets.
Android also claimed that the watches will be able to track your health and fitness progress. The device will be synched with an app that can give you real-time speed, distance and time information on your wrist for your run, cycle or walk.
However, there’s still no announcement to when Google is planning to release Android Wear in the market. There are no prototypes tested yet and no foreseen price tag for each device.
